Comprehensive Community Safety

Guarding

  • Qualified guards rotate shifts 12 hourly over a period of 24 hours and provision is made in the duty roster for rest days as required by legislation.
  • Highly equipped trained and qualified personnel are on standby in the event of the nonavailability
    of staff due to illness or absenteeism.
  • Guards are frequently visited and inspected by Supervisors and Management to ensure our high standards are maintained.
  • Each guard has his/her job description and is fully informed of what is expected of him/her.
  • A comprehensive documented IR Procedure is in place and all IR issues are handled by IR Consultants.
  • Gladiator provides an electronic Guard Route Supervisor System in place as an extra option to clients.

Armed Response

  • Suitable trained and qualified personnel are on call 24 hours per day and can react on any emergency call immediately.
  • Armed personnel patrol all areas of responsibility and are in radio contact with the radio control room on a permanent basis.
  • All personnel are trained to act within the ambits of current legislation and it is our policy to use the minimum force to restrain perpetrators in order to effect arrests.
  • We provide armed personnel as escorts for transportation of cash and to oversee lockup safety procedures at banks and businesses.
  • All client information is handled with strict confidentiality and all staff are trained in customer relations.
  • Patrol and armed response vehicles are clearly marked and identifiable.
  • Armed response units are supported by our 24/7 paramedic vehicles with at least intermediate life support paramedics.
  • A relatively large and well-equipped fire and rescue vehicle is also available 24/7
  • Selected armed response officers are trained and certified up to level 3 first aid, which enables them to assist with medical emergencies.

Monitoring of Alarms and armed response units

  • Intruder detection systems are monitored from an intruder proof SAIDSA standard control room staffed by alert and qualified personnel.
  • The operator is informed of all patrol vehicle movements, panic alarms and detection of intruders.
  • In the event of a local or national power failure, power is supplied by a standby emergency generator, in addition to the required uninterrupted power supply.
  • Management and senior staff are all available 24 hours per day to attend to matters of a more serious nature and to give guidance to personnel where needed.
  • Our control room is equipped to provide off-site CCTV monitoring for their purpose intrusion identification and data collection of incidents.

  • All Gladiator Community Protection staff must have a minimum “Grade” C PSIRA training level and a legal firearm competency certificate.
  • All staff members receive induction training when upon employment with our company.
  • Staff and management undergo continuous onsite training as well as bi-monthly training sessions at the company’s premises.
  • When new business is secured we ensure that management and staff are trained according to the precise needs of the client.
  • Senior management ensures client’s full satisfaction at every new site before handing over the reins to the supervisors, who continue with stringent management and control over these sites.

    – External training by accredited institutions.

Liability Insurance

In order to cater for the unforeseeable liabilities, Gladiator has an
insurance policy covering liability to the value of R20,000,000.00
in place.
